RUSSELL KINNAMAN OBITUARY

Russell "Russ" L. Kinnaman

Sioux City

Russell (Russ) L. Kinnaman, 69, passed away peacefully at home on March 7 from complications of Parkinson's Disease and cancer.

A celebration of life will be held July 1 from noon to 4 p.m. at Stone Lodge in Stone State Park.

Russ was born on Nov. 26, 1953 (Thanksgiving) to Raymond and Janice (Shaffer) Kinnaman. He never had a birthday cake but pumpkin pie instead. He attended Sioux City Public Schools and graduated from Central High School's last class in 1972. He was a machinist by trade with that career being cut short by a back injury in the early 1990s. He later worked for the non-profit organizations Meals on Wheels and the Crittenton Center, retiring in 2020.

Russ married Melinda (Mindy) Hansen in 1976 and to that union two daughters were born, Eden and Corinne. He loved to spoil them all. In the winter, he would warm up his daughter's cars and scrape their windows before school. He would make their lunches and include a silly little note. He would run errands during the day so Mindy could have free time in the evenings. Russ was always helping someone, from bringing kids to school to mowing neighbor's yards and shoveling their walks.

Russ is survived by his wife, Mindy; daughter, Eden (Ross) Olson and son Jack, daughter Corinne (Ben) Newport and daughters Alexis and Alyssa; brother, Matt (Cheryl) and sons Chris, Kirk, Mitchell and Ryan; sister, Sharon Ulrich and daughters Kari and Kris; sister, Julie (Roger) Kaelke and children Heidi and Jacob; sister, Laura (Randy) Holden and her daughter Dusti; sister, Joan Randall and children Katie and Kevin; sister, June Tank and daughter Jennifer; sister Holly Reed and her children Keshia, Brett and Decateur; nephew, (his little buddy) Aaron Hansen; nieces, Christine, Melissa and Bailey Goodwin; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, do something nice for someone or help someone out. Russ would like that.

RIP
