LE MARS, Iowa | Robert "Bob" Coover, 60, of Le Mars, passed away suddenly Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Tim Geitz officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 4 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Robert Wesley Coover Jr. was born May 22, 1952, in Sioux City, the son of Robert W. and Frances L. (Johnson) Coover. Bob was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1972. Following high school, Bob worked at a local bakery and later for Old Home Bakery in South Sioux City for 12 years.
Bob married Janette Kruse on Feb. 26, 1988, at Grace Lutheran church in Le Mars. Bob and Janette were blessed with a son, Brandon.
In April 1990, Bob began working for Wells' Dairy in Le Mars. Bob spent most of his career working at the North Ice Cream Plant on the half-gallon line.
Bob was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. He was a dedicated member, volunteering wherever needed, and serving as an usher and trustee for several years. Bob enjoyed bowling. For the last few years, he bowled in a league with his son Brandon. He enjoyed watching sports, especially Iowa Hawkeyes football and NASCAR. He enjoyed following the career of Jeff Gordon. Bob liked to follow the Chicago Cubs during baseball season.
As many people know, Bob loved to visit. He enjoyed talking sports and talking with family and friends. His sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Janette of Le Mars; his son, Brandon of Le Mars; five siblings, Norma Comstock of Sioux City, Florence Palmer of Sioux City, Mark Coover of North Glenn, Colo., Shirley (Jack) Stidd of Nebraska City, Neb., and Linda (George) Howell of Palmyra, Neb.; a brother-in-law, Darrell Amick of Sioux City; special nephews, Roger Amick, Joe Cooper and Adam Cooper; his in-laws, Mary Ann (Kraig) Johnson of Grand Haven, Mich., Wayne (Lynette) Kruse of Le Mars and Sharon Kruse of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Roberta Amick; two brothers-in-law, Bill Palmer and Roger Comstock; and his parents-in-law, Verda and Urban Kruse.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Coover, Joe Cooper, Adam Cooper, Joel Kruse, Roger Amick, Mark Mann and Darin Amick.
