Leon A. Doxtad, 69, of Sioux City, Iowa died Monday, January 9, 2023, at a local hospital. A Celebration of Life will be from 4:00 to 7:00 Friday, January 13, 2023, at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Leon Doxtad was born March 23, 1953, in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Harold and Mary (Gatzemeyer) Doxtad. He grew up in Sioux City, graduating from Central High School in 1972. He later continued his education at Briar Cliff College, graduating with an Bachelor’s degree in 1995.

He married Elsa McCall. To this union a daughter, Karri was born. They later divorced. Leon married Lynn Hoffman February 16, 1986. Together they made their home in Sioux City. Over the years, Leon owned and operated a local Trucking Company and later went to work for the City of Sioux City, retiring in 2016 after 32 years of service.

Leon had a great sense of humor. He was a member of the Sioux City Antique Car Club, Sioux City Model Airplane Club, Siouxland Center for Active Generations, the Parkinson’s Support Group and Parkinson’s Delay the Disease at the YMCA.  Leon could fix anything. He enjoyed tinkering, going to transportation museums, and was interested in cars and steam engines.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Doxtad; daughter, Karri (Jason) Wilde; stepson, Keith (Jen) Roupe; 2 grandchildren, Kay-Lea and Piper; 2 siblings, Larry Doxtad and June Doxtad; sister-in-law, JoD’Ann Hoffman; and his 2 cats, Annie and Spookie.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Alexis; sister, Judy; and a sister-in-law, Cyndy Hoffman.

Donations preferred to American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA) or the Siouxland Humane Society.
