Janet Susan Rabe - It appears she was murdered September 1972 at Labounty Photography Studio in a residence on the north side of Sioux City by a coworker. I remember the stabbing, but don't believe I realized it was a classmate who was killed.
I remember hearing of her murder when at work (working at Payless Shoes at the time), and had to leave work for the day. It was so unbelievable and such a horrible death, it has stuck with me to this day. I do not remember that she was stabbed by a co-worker so am not sure that part is correct, but I do know he is now free to live his life.
Janet was engaged to be married. She was a very caring, fun person who was taken way too soon.
Carolyn, I think about her often. Her murder has stuck with me since it happended too. I remeber reading about her and seeing the news. Such a beautiful person.
As I recall, the photography studio was in the basement of a house. Janet was there by herself when a guy came to deliver supplies. He is the one who killed her when she rejected his advances. The house was either next door to or on the same street as my friend Tom Edwards lived. And the guy who did it was the husband of a secretary at IBP, where my dad worked. Small town. Lots of connections.
I remember her vaguely; shy, but I guess so was I; I'd like to spit some beechnut in that dudes eyes & shoot him with my ole 45 (Hank, Jr.); I know, I'm not politically correct. bap
Yes, she was killed just 4 houses down the street from our house. Very tragic day, as its a very peaceful safe neighborhood. In fact don't think anyone in the area even knew their was a business being run out of the basement. Added to the initial confusion. Again very sad and senseless loss.
I remember her as a kind person and reserved. i am so sorry this happened. i know exactly what her parents felt from their loss. i pray she is i a better place and hopefully or possibly her spirit may be at the reunion.
She was a wonderful sweet friend. I remember how shocked I was when I heard about her being murdered. I think it was actually the first time, except JFK's assassination, that I realized how dangerous the world could be. So sad....I have thought of her often over the years.

She was my chem lab partner. She was very nice. We got along well, maybe because we were both a bit
shy, but I didn't know her really well.
I remember so well when she died. It affected me deeply and I have thought of her often over the years.

I miss her, "As the sun misses the flower in the dead of winter". I know Heaven is made better by her presance, but selfishly I rather she were here.

I passed Janet's childhood home when I walked to Ermerson Graded school, where we both attended. A very sweet girl. Such a tragic death.
