SIOUX CITY | Douglas W. Thomas, 61, of Sioux City died Thursday, March 26, 2015, at a local care facility.
Services will be 6 p.m. Monday at Southern Hills Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Douglas was born Dec. 17, 1953, in Sioux City, the son of Jesse and Elizabeth (Groves) Thomas. He graduated from Central High School and married Pattie DeRaad in 1972. Douglas worked at Terminal Grain until 1993.
He enjoyed going to the horse track, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Douglas is survived by his three daughters, Barbara (Tracy) Bohlke, Kristy (Daniel) Fisher, and Holly Thomas, all of Sioux City; one brother, Danny Thomas of Sioux City; two sisters, Betty Rouse and Mary Radley, both of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Steven "Rat" Thomas.

I went all thru school with Doug; Irving, Woodrow and Central. He was a really nice guy. Haven't seen him in the years since graduation. RIP Doug.

Doug and I spent time shooting basketball at the hoop in the backyard of our house on Court Street. Life was simple back then shooting hoops and riding bikes. Loved every minute of it.
